The Doors of Ruin
On the deforested tip of the Bitter Coast, by the forgotten village of Timberg, an ancient ruin stirs. A complex labyrinth culminating in a room full of crumbling stone doorways. For centuries these portals have been silent, now, when the blue moon is full, a doorway opens. The town is calling for heroes, but will they find riches or ruin?
How it Works:
"The Doors of Ruin" is a homebrew adventure designed to be played in self contained sessions. Each month, the first 8 people to arrive will embark on a dungeon crawl to complete a quest before the session ends and the portal closes. Spectators are welcome after the party is filled.
Walk-ins are welcome! You either need to show up with a level 1 character (see below for some tips about making characters for this setting) or select one of our pre-made character sheets and jump right in!
Tickets: $10/session
Hosted at Newgrass Brewing Co. in Shelby, NC.
Please fill out our Release Form prior to attending.
Participants must be 18 years or older.

The Village of Timberg
Timberg is a small village west of the provincial capital of Beachmaw. It was originally established as a lumber camp at the base of some ancient ruins from a long forgotten past. The town quickly grew in size as its access to the coast made it ideal for exporting lumber to Beachmaw. However, years of clearcutting have left the area little more than scrag lands. With the main export gone, the town has shriveled over the past two decades. Nowadays, most of the town is just boarded up windbreaks. The town would likely be completely abandoned by now if it weren’t for two brothers, Quee and Queg, who have been channeling funds into the town for the past 12 years.

Ishmael (Gnome) sells fish in the market.

Character Creation:
Welcome to the weird world of Splorch! When making a new character we encourage as much random rolling as possible, we think it makes things more interesting and takes people out of their comfort zone. You are of course welcome to make your own choices but we do have some guidelines.
[1] NO HUMANS (they occupy a complicated social caste on Splorch that makes adventuring difficult).
[2] Consider one of the most common races on the continent of HEROT (Where this campaign is set): Deep Gnome, Elf, Orc, Dwarf, or Goblin.
[3] Consider one of the common races from around the globe:
-
DURAK = Leonin, Minotaur, Loxodon, Goliath, or Centaur.
-
ALBION = Dragonborn or Forged (Warforged).
-
FALLUCIA = Halfling, Minotaur, Firbolg, Bugbear, or Lizardfolk.
-
CYRA = Halfling, Satyr, Half-Elves, Half-Orc, Tiefling, or Triton.
While these are the most common in these areas they are certainly not the only races living in each of these continents. If you wish to play a different race not listed here you are welcome to.
[4] No Artificers. The technology of Splorch isn’t quite at this point yet.
[5] Stay away from spells like “Detect Good or Evil”. The world of Splorch operates in an ambiguous grey area when it comes to morality so this will likely not be a spell worth taking.
[6] Character Backstory: Consider what has brought your character to answer the call for help from this small town. Are you trying to make a name for yourself as a hero? Are you trying to seek the riches that are rumored to be locked away in these portals? Are you trying to prove your worth to someone? Are you running away from something? What compels your character to run towards this mysterious peril?
[7] We also have a few homebrew rules that we’ll roll with you on your first session. First you’ll roll to see what Star Sign your character was born under which comes with a unique buff. Then you’ll roll to determine your character’s Deepest Darkest Fear (DDF). When your character has to do something that pits them against their DDF they will have disadvantage on any rolls associated with it.
We also have some pre-made level 1 characters available to anyone who wants to jump right in on game day.
